After checking out and finding a bite to eat, we set off for WI on another beautifully sunny day. Reuniting with I-90 at Toledo we drove on towards Indiana and were lucky enough to see some of Indiana's Gems (all of which are quite noteworthy): Fremont: The US Capital of Fireworks as advertised by an oversized billboard and the "Hall of Fame of Motor Homes and RV's." We continued on our drive to IL passing the belching factories of Gary, Ind and many corn fields, however, something that hadn't escaped either of us was the phenomenal amount of tolls we had to go through, 60c here, $1.50 there one we even skipped through without paying (accidentally of course...) we must have spent about $20 just on Tolls.
Chicago appeared over the horizon with the Sears Tower soaring in to the bright blue sky, we vowed to return for a long weekend one day... onward we drove taking a quick detour in to a forest preserve for a bite to eat and somewhere for Ollie to stretch his legs.
Madison, WI was now appearing on signs which is always reassuring, and within an hour we were in at the hotel, we checked in and after a quick turn-around drove in to the city for a wander and something to eat.
The overall impression of Madison is that it is a very nice city, a lot of people were running or biking and milling around the streets. The state capital looked very impressive at the end of the popular State Street - which is the central shopping area it was buzzing with students, independent shops, cafes and restaurants. We settled for an Irish Pub with an unpronounceable name but delicious food and decided upon our plans for tomorrow.

Well done. The line from Syracuse on our map already looks pretty long. You're heading into Injun country now so be careful!
