Syracuse, NY to Toledo, OH: 450 miles

It was the getting going that was the hardest thing - loading up the truck with our bags, cases and 'stuff' took a while as Steve skillfully played Suitcase Tetris in the bed of the pick up. Once everything was in we did the usual look around and Steve came out of the door to say: "what is really important that we've missed?" umm... is it mine? I asked no, yours? no. Ollie's food! wrapped up in our own things we forgot Ollie's food. We wedged the food in the bed after having to move some things around, now we were ready to go. After fond farewell's we waved out of the truck and set off down Forestedge Drive towards Toledo, OH.

The drive to Ohio was stunning, mostly because of the weather and not necessarily the scenery, however there were vineyards after vineyards outside Buffalo, NY we later learned were interestingly Welch's Grapes - so jam and juice.

It was a long first drive but (luckily) uneventful, Ollie has found driving to be a piece of cake whilst Steve and I bask on the back seat with our noses out of the small window...

We are safely settled into La Quinta, Toledo (dogs allowed) and look forward to driving through Ohio on to Madison, Wisconsin
