It was nice to wake up and not have to re-pack our bags and load up the truck. Instead we got up and went out to breakfast in Bozeman on Main Street, afterwards we went for a walk up and down the main drag stopping in the shops that were open - as it was Labour Day most of the shops weren't open or if they were, it was for limited hours only. Steve bought a pair of shoes that he had had his eye on for a while and then we headed back to our condo, picked up Ollie and went for a hike.
The hike we chose, in retrospect was a bit up-and-down and not really what we were looking for in terms of mileage and scenery but it provided up with a nice view of Bozeman and the surrounding hills. Ollie enjoyed running around and around and testing his brakes on the way down the steep trail.
Once at the base we headed to Bridger Bowl, one of the ski areas in Montana. It looked so different to Stowe where you can look at Mt Mansfield and see the trails and slopes snaking down the mountain but at Bridger it was a lot more rugged and less structured.
Back at the condo we relaxed for a bit and decided upon a restaurant only to find out that it wasn't open this evening, so we'll save that for tomorrow and we settled for (a delicious) pizza instead.
On our way back we drove towards the University of Montana, Bozeman Campus and it was surprisingly large, definitely worth a look during the day tomorrow, as well as a mountain bike for Steve, Ollie and I will go hiking on the same trail, check out Big Sky Ski Resort, then we'll have a delicious supper (me and Steve, not Ollie.)
Not bad for a Tuesday.
Vermont Plate Sighting = quite a few in Bozeman (all Subaru's!)
OK, comment as requested. I have totalled your mileage and it's 2,095. How much further to go? We're envious of your having seen places we just read about - Badlands, Rushmore and now Jellystone. Looked a bit cloudy in the last pics, though - tee hee! Looking forward to geyser pics.
